Quilling Flowers
Quilling is a soothing hobby , its always exciting to see paper strips turn into beautiful flowers, leaves with little effort and glue! I had been wanting to make flowers with fluffy centers and last night I managed to do it after much research on the internet quilling tutorials. Right now I am happy with the much desired flower centers which are done with the double fringing technique.
These large quilled flowers are ideal for box decoration as well as making photo frames etc. Orders are welcome , please connect with me on my FB page Craft World featured on the side bar or comment here, thanks.

Bells -3 D Quilling
3 D quilled bells and holly berries are very easy to make and can be used for making beautiful cards, gift tags and other decorative items for Christmas.
Here is a simple tutorial for making bells. The leaves shown are punched , they can be substituted with quilled marquis leaves.
BELLS AND LEAVES
1 Use a full strip to make a tight coil, if you wish to make a larger bell then use 2 or more strips.
2 Stick the end of the flat coil carefully.
3 Gently push up the centre of the flat coil , it will take a dome shape.Keep pushing up till the dome takes the shape of a bell.
4 Spread glue on the inner side of the bell so the coils firmly stick to each other.
5 A bead or a tiny round quilled coil can be used as the clapper .
The bell is ready and should be left to dry for sometime.
LEAVES
Make green marquis and pinch ends to form leaves. or use punched leaves .
Holly berries are just small red coils stuck on punched leaves, easy to make but look stunning all the same.

Quilled Frame
After a long search I was able to locate a photo frame which could be used for quilled craftwork. This frame was a part of the quilling kit I had ordered on-line.I have tried to do husking and rather liked it as it did not require a quilling tool and the flowers look different.
I like making decorative things which can be seen instead of piling up in boxes inside cupboards.Getting inspired by my peers!

Quilled Cottage

At last my cottage was ready,I wanted to add a garden to it but it would have delayed the post further. An empty paper box has come in handy for the structure, I have snipped a little bit to make the triangular shape of the sides. The roof is painted with Acrylic color and stuck with glue gun.
Hope to make a better one next time , for that I will have to do a lot of quilling...........

Quilled Topiary-Tutorial

This topiary is a good example of 3 D quilling and is made up of 16 quilled roses which I quilled while watching TV!
A topiary is a beautiful flower arrangement which adds charm and elegance to any home.
METHOD
1 Take a Styrofoam 1"ball , this base gives the round shape to the floral arrangement.
2 Make quilled roses , lots of them!
3 Use a plastic straw or toothpicks/dowel sticks for the stem.Cut it to size and wrap it with quilled green strip or paint it.
4 Make a quilled pot .
5 Stick the roses on the Styrofoam ball with white glue or glue gun.Start from the top and keep on sticking roses to cover the entire surface.
6 Insert the dowel stick into the ball.
7 Position the arrangement in the quilled pot , this is tricky as the pot tends to topple over!
These mini rose topiaries can be used as giveaways at bridal showers, table decorations etc.

Quilled Lotus

This lotus is made up of lots of marquis of two different sizes. There are 3 rows of petals of 2 sizes-
1 3 small marqius for the inner row
2 8 small marquis for the first outer row
3 8 large marquis for the bottom row.
I have taken one full quilling strip for the large marquis and cut it in half for the smaller ones.
Leaves have been made with hands , just looping strips into a fan shape and encircling with a another.

3 D Fan - Tutorial

I desperately wanted to make a 3 D fan and it took me three days to do it ! It can stand on its own and is pretty sturdy though looks delicate. All the quilling has been done with a toothpick.
MATERIALS REQUIRED
1 Quilling tool /toothpick
2 Quilling strips of desired color , I cut and paint my strips so its easy.
3 Glue
4 Paper to make sticks for the frame.
5 Plastic sheet to work while sticking the pieces.
6 A quilled rose and a few loose coils .
METHOD
1 Cut rectangles of paper and start folling from one end diagonally , stick the end. We get nice long rolls this way for the framework of the fan. I made 7 sticks .
2 Stick the rolls in a fan shape .Let it dry nicely.
3 Now fill up the spaces with quilling shapes of your choice , S scrolls , marquis even flowers can be used to fill up the frame.
Needs lots of patience but its worth the effort ! Let your imagination run riot and make a fan in single color or multicolor.

3 D Quilled Egg

This is my maiden attempt at three dimensional quilling. Needs improvement and more practise no doubt !
Only marquis shapes have been used -
9 marquis for top and bottom flower and 16 in between. I used a ball candle mold for making it , but maybe it can be made in a small bowl and the 2 halves glued together.
I wanted to make a ball but it turned into an egg !
