Quilled Cards
These delicious quilled cards are the result of a mix-up in placing order for craft materials. To cut the story short, I decided to use the opportunity to buy real card making paper in nice colors. The paper is Fabriano ,
80gms , acid free and really perfect for cards. The quilled flowers were made in my free time and were put to good use last night for this project.
I have made cards earlier but find these better because of the good quality paper and finishing.
The sentiment can be hand written and the cards used for Mother's Day, Father's Day, Birthdays and whatever!

Handmade Cards
Handmade cards are beautiful, unique and one of a kind. Its doubtful if anyone can truly replicate one's own creation !
The card shown above is a mix of quilling and punch craft . The fringed flowers are quilled, the leaves are punched, the single rose is a cut with scalloped scissors , easy enough to give it a try!

Independence Day Card
Our Independence Day falls on 15th August and it brings back fond memories of celebrations at school,a half day , no classes at all!
Patriotic songs were sung, and the occasion was soul-stirring as well as celebratory. We generally went to one of our friend's place for lunch followed by a lazy afternoon of gossip and chit-chat.
Some simple quilling echoing the colors of our national flag have been incorporated in the above piece.

Floral Punch Craft
Punch Craft is my latest fad and now I am busy collecting various punches , as usual it a challenge to buy craft materials. Most of the times when I seriously search for them I come back empty handed and when I am not looking for them I find them!
This time I had gone looking for quilling material and found punches instead. This is my first project in Punch Craft done without the required tools ,now I have to search on-line for more punches and tools......

2012 -New Year Card

Happy New Year ! The quilled energetic figures are from Warli Art, a simple art form practiced by the village people to decorate their homes in western part of India.
Warli Art has gained immense popularity , it is a very graphic presentation of village life, the figures are very rudimentary, made up of triangles and squares.
Today Warli art is made on handmade paper with black ink ,I made the paper and ink Warli sometime back and wanted to make quilled one , here it is !

Quilled Card

This card has a quilled OM which has a lot of significance for me ,its a part of my Moms name. She passed away long ago and I miss her every single day. She taught me how to make paper fringed flowers and always encouraged me in my juvenile artistic endeavours in my childhood.
She was fabulous at knitting and made sweaters and cardigans for the entire family, even tiny ones for my dolls! The summer afternoons were spent indoors doing embroidery ,and the winters days in the sun drenched verandah. This is for you Mom!

Quilled birds

These quilled chattering birds remind me of those lovely carefree schooldays when life was uncomplicated !!
Every year Teachers Day reminds me of the memorable years spent at Loreto Convent Lucknow, where I studied.I am eternally thankful to the nuns and teachers who taught me many things apart from various subjects.
Whenever I visit Lucknow I always make it a point to see my school at least once , it looks just as great as it did years ago !

Independence Day Card

Scrolls have completely overtaken my quilling , I love their graceful meanderings . Our Independence Day is celebrated on 15th August when the Prime Minister hoists the national flag and delivers a speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort at Delhi.
I remember looking forward to Independence Day celebrations at my school , it felt great to see our flag flying proudly in the sky !

Embroidered Card

An embroidered card is really made with a needle and thread on paper. Never thought that it could be done , but here it is !
MATERIALS REQUIRED
Card paper, needle, colored threads and a towel.
Its quite simple , draw a design on card paper with dots, there are plenty available on the net.
Keep the paper on a towel , yes, a towel and prick holes through the dots with a needle. The towel is a neat idea as it works perfectly and the whole operation is over without any mishaps.
Pull the threaded needle through the holes to form the design and you are done.
Cover the wrong side with matching paper to hide the knots and lose threads.
Try it !

Birthday Card

This card goes to Take a Quill Pills Challenge 9 where one has to quill a monochromatic card !!!!
It was tough no doubt, using just one color .......... this time something new had to be made for the challenge , no old recycled stuff .
Nowadays I am into scrolls , the beautiful lyrical curves are so beautiful.
I wanted to quill something in blue but had to settle for pink ultimately. A very girlie card indeed.

Mothers Day

Mothers Day is celebrated on 8th May all over the world . I think its a good concept as mothers are finally getting their share of appreciation.
I have quilled this teacup specially for my Mom for Mothers Day . I lost her long ago and still miss her everyday though now I am a grandmother myself !
She taught me my first paper flowers as a child and knitted beautiful woollen sweaters for the entire family. It was exciting to see a sweater taking shape right before ones eyes !
This steaming cup of tea is for all the mothers in the world .
Its rightly said that God could not be everywhere, so he created Mothers .

Cards -Decoupage

Cards are quite easy to make with the things available at home even if one is artistically challenged !
Decoupage is one of the ways to make cards. It means cutting and pasting as desired ,decoupage sheets are available in the market. Take a nice patterned sheet , even old gift wrappings will do.
MATERIALS REQUIRED
1 Card paper/chart paper
2 Pattern sheet
3 Scissors, gum , pencil, ruler
METHOD
Choose the color of the card paper keeping in mind the main colors of the flowers to be stuck on it. Its a good idea to try out the layout before applying gum .
If you wish to give a contrasting background then cut a circle or an oval shape of a different shade of paper and stick it on the card . Then start sticking the flowers and leaves to give a harmonious and pleasing effect.
To make the above card I selected pink card sheet and a black oval shape which I made on black chart paper. Circles, ovals can be made with lids and other things.
Then I stuck the roses and added the leaves as required.
I like the end result!

Diwali Card

This card goes for J Cs Challenge 4 .
The quilled diya symbolises the spirit of Diwali and hopefully portrays the theme which was Indian ethnic this time. I have used golden lace to spice things up and add some shimmer. This theme is inspiring me to make use of my ethnic treasures to come up wth more such cards!
