Quilled T-lite holders

Quilled flowers  t-lite candle holders seem to be a popular combo though paper and candles are hard to imagine together! I have tried to keep the t-lite candle on one side , this way the arrangement can later be used on its own without the candle.
These can be made easily, cut mount board into 3 " circles, paint if required ,stick  quilled flowers , place t-lite candle and its done.
Coasters can be used instead of mount board as base.
CAUTION- Keep these pretty arrangements away from kids, pets, curtains , wind !!!!
These quilled T lite candle holders are for sale , please contact me on my Fb page Craft world on the side bar or comment here.

Quilled T-lites

Nowadays there is a spate of beautiful quilled T- lite candle decorations which has added new dimensions to quilling.
But a note of caution is required as quilling is inflammable , care should be exercised to keep the paper and flame apart and the T-lite should be placed higher than the quilling to make it a pleasant experience.
It is prudent to test one's creations to check if the creation is safe or not before gifting or selling it.

Diwali Quilling

Diwali is a major festival and falls on the onset of the much awaited winter. I have very fond memories of diwali with my family and friends. The garden used to be re-planted with winter flowers and vegetables, the house was sparkling clean and diyas made ready for the diwali night.
Have a green diwali , light-up few crackers if possible and keep the environment clean .

Diwali Card

This is a quilled Diwali card depicting a terracota lamp which is traditionally used to lightup and decorate our homes on Diwali.
During my childhood my Mom used to start Diwali preparations weeks in advance . We all enjoyed buying these earthen diyas or lamps from roadside vendors , filling them with oil and and placing them on walls and ledges of our home.
Nowadays Diyas have been replaced with electric lights which can be used for several years, just plug in and thats it! Personally I find it very mechanical and cold.
The poor potters work feverishly to make these diyas and hope to make a decent living ,its tough to see a potter sitting alone with unsold diyas on Diwali eve.

Please buy at least a dozen diyas , their glow will light up your home as well as someones heart.
HAPPY DIWALI !

Diwali Lamps/Diyas

Diwali is a major festival of India , it celebrates the victory of goodness over evil . Small earthen lamps filled with oil are used to decorate the houses and buildings. Nowadays people have started using electricity bulbs but earthen lamps have an old world charm and are still very popular.
Diwali has very happy childhood memories for me. The earthen lamps had to be bought from the potter , washed and filled with oil. Then on the eve of Diwali they had to be lit and placed on the walls.Crackers , yummy food , relatives, friends and not to forget holidays were an integral part of the festivities.
